May and June survival notes…

May and June are always so busy. They are my first months of art events for each year and if they are successful it means working harder and faster to make sure I have more beautiful work available for the remainder of the year’s shows.

So many people come to chat about my art at every exhibition. Some want to talk about my process, some about my inspiration, some to get helpful tips for their own art process. But the ones that make me smile the most are those who had no intention of looking at art and casually stroll past with the obligatory glance then stop in their tracks, captured by one image. I love to watch their faces which hint of what they are imagining or remembering, inspired by an image. A sale is always a welcome reward but really, the best feeling is witnessing that connection between someone I don’t know and an artwork I have created. This is what being an artist is all about for me.

Exhibiting at RHS Wisley and Hever Castle in May then Blenheim Palace in June have been wonderful. I’m looking forward to Hyde Hall in August.
